Choosing Paint

Choosing the right paint is as important as picking a color. Different types of paint serve various purposes, from protecting from mold and mildew to just looking beautiful.

Here are some easy steps to finding the right paint.

1. Choose a Product Line

Our Toronto paint companies have a variety of product lines that deliver the look and protection you desire. Choose Interior or Exterior.

2. Choose the right sheen for your project

One of the most important factors in picking your paint line is picking the right sheen. A sheen can be very washable or hide uneven surfaces. When considering colors, you will look at patches to find a selection. For some odd reason, what you see in samples rarely translates to the appearance on your home. To save money, time and frustration, do not pick a color and then paint the area in question. Instead, you should buy a small amount of the paint and apply it to a small part of the wall in question. Let it dry and then consider if it meets your expectations. Often, the color will not appear as you thought it would. Take note of the problem and then buy another small pint of paint that has the correction, to wit, slightly lighter or darker. Now paint another small part of the wall and see what it looks like. Repeat this process until you find the color you want.

The second rule with paint schemes it emphasis. The nature of most properties is they have appealing sections and utilitarian sections. If possible, the appealing sections such as trim around bay windows should be painted in a darker color. Conversely, utilitarian areas such as sizeable flat walls should be painted in a lighter color. This strategy will draw the eye of potential buyers to the appealing sections and away form the utilitarian areas.
